Archdiocesan Youth Secretariat Launches 2026 Archdiocesan Youth Doctrinal Quizzing Tournament to Deepen the Catholic Faith of Young People

August 1, 2026 The Archdiocesan Youth Secretariat, through its Youth Apostolate Department and the Archdiocesan Youth Assembly (AYA), officially launched the First Edition of the Archdiocesan Youth Doctrinal Quizzing Tournament on August 1, 2026 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral.Following several weeks of planning, preparation, and exhibition matches, the tournament commenced with exciting opening contests featuring parishes from the Monrovia Deanery. This faith formation initiative seeks to deepen young people's knowledge of the Catholic faith, strengthen their understanding of Church doctrine, and foster greater unity among the youth of the Archdiocese of Monrovia.Opening Matches – Monrovia Deanery Sacred Heart Cathedral vs. Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish; St. Joseph–Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church vs. Holy Innocents Parish Sacred Heart Cathedral vs. Holy Innocents Parish.Deanery Championship Sacred Heart Cathedral faced St. Joseph–Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church in the deanery final.Sacred Heart Cathedral emerged as the Monrovia Deanery Champion and will advance to the next stage of the Archdiocesan Youth Doctrinal Quizzing Tournament.The opening ceremony included remarks from parish representatives and officials of the Archdiocesan Youth Secretariat, who encouraged the participants to continue growing in the knowledge and practice of the Catholic faith. Young people from parishes around Monrovia and its suburb were present and they actively participated in the day's activities, reflecting the vibrant spirit of youth ministry within the Archdiocese.The tournament will continue in the coming weeks across the remaining deaneries of the Archdiocese. The next round of competition will be hosted by Holy Family Parish for the Bushrod Island Deanery.The Archdiocesan Youth Secretariat extends its sincere appreciation to all participating parishes, the organizing committee, the Archdiocesan Vocations Office, parish youth leaders, volunteers, and all who contributed to the successful launch of this important initiative.May this tournament inspire our young people to grow in their knowledge of the teachings of the Church, deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, and become faithful witnesses of the Gospel in their families, parishes, and communities.
