  • Archbishop Gabriel Blamo Jubwe Continues Pastoral Visitation in the United Kingdom

Event Description

Most Rev. Dr. Gabriel Blamo Jubwe, Metropolitan Archbishop of Monrovia, is continuing his pastoral visitation to the United Kingdom, combining pastoral encounters, ecclesial engagements, and meetings with institutions and partners supporting the mission of the Catholic Church in Liberia.During his time in London, Archbishop Jubwe visited the Dominican Sisters at Rosary Priory. The Sisters have a longstanding connection with Liberia and were instrumental in establishing St. Dominic Catholic School in Bomi County. The Archbishop also met with members of the Liberian community, including a visit to the Liberian Embassy in London. The pastoral visit also included an important ecclesial encounter with the Archdiocese of Southwark. Archbishop Gabriel Jubwe met with Most Rev. John Wilson, Archbishop of Southwark, as well as officials of the Archdiocese, including the Chancellor, Rev. Deacon Michael Kennedy, and Vice Chancellor, Ms. Mary Doolan. These encounters provided an opportunity for fraternal fellowship and strengthening of relations between the two Archdioceses. The Archbishop also visited the office of Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) in Sutton, London. During the visit, he celebrated Mass with the staff and participated in an ACN podcast, sharing about the pastoral mission and needs of the Archdiocese of Monrovia and the Church in Liberia. The Archbishop subsequently travelled to Manchester, where he visited the Society of African Missions (SMA) Provincial House. He was welcomed by Very Rev. Gareth Jenkins and Very Rev. Samuel Agbeme, Superior of the British Province of the SMA. His visit included an encounter with the Diocese of Salford and Most Rev. John Arnold, Bishop of Salford, as well as a visit to St. Joseph Parish and the SMA Fathers’ cemetery in Manchester. The pastoral visitation continues to provide Archbishop Gabriel Blamo Jubwe with opportunities for prayer, fraternity, dialogue and the strengthening of relationships with the Church, religious communities, mission partners and the Liberian community in the United Kingdom. Thanks for your continued prayers for the Archbishop.May God bless you.Office of the Archbishop September 25, 2026
