22 Young Pilgrims Journey to Accra for West Africa Youth Days 2026

22 Pilgrims Depart Monrovia for West Africa Youth Days in Accra, GhanaA team of 22 youth-pilgrims from the Archdiocese of Monrovia depart Liberia today, September 4, for Accra, Ghana, to participate in the West Africa Youth Days, scheduled for Monday, September 7, to Friday, September 11, 2026, at Achimota School in Accra.The journey began with a Holy Mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation at the Sacred Heart Cathedral. In his homily, the Youth Director, Rev. Fr. Johnny-Clement encouraged youth pilgrims to become new wine, allowing prayers and other acts of spirituality to have a possible influence in their lives.The pilgrims are led by Rev. Fr. Victor Atsu Koku Gbotso, SVD, Rev. Fr. Johnny-Clement Kombo, and Isaac Marcus Carter. They will join hundreds of young pilgrims from across West Africa for this important spiritual, pastoral, and cultural gathering.The West Africa Youth Days seek “to strengthen faith, foster peace and regional unity, and empower Catholic youth across West Africa as ethical leaders and missionary disciples.”During the gathering, our young people are expected to participate in a variety of activities, including daily Holy Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Confessions, prayer services, youth leadership dialogues, catechetical sessions, and discussions on contemporary social issues.There will also be opportunities for cultural exchange through music, dance, and the sharing of our rich heritage, as well as interactive workshops aimed at equipping young people for their role in the Church and society.As they journey to Ghana, we kindly ask for your prayers for our pilgrims. May the Lord accompany them throughout their journey, deepen their faith, and grant them a fruitful and joyful experience of fellowship with young Catholics from across the region.As they pray for us, we assure them that we shall also pray for them and for the success of the West Africa Youth Days.We commend all our pilgrims into the maternal intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church and Queen of Peace.
