A Sacred Milestone at St. Teresa Convent School: 21 Students Embrace the Sacramental Life

A Historic Day of Faith: Twenty-One St. Teresa Convent Students Receive the Sacraments

Event Description

On Friday, June 12, 2026, the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. Teresa Convent School witnessed a momentous spiritual milestone as twenty-one of its students were joyfully welcomed into the sacramental life of the Church. During a beautifully celebrated School Mass, eighteen students received the Holy Sacrament of Baptism, while all twenty-one encountered Christ intimately through their First Holy Communion. This historic occasion marks the first time in more than two decades that the Sacrament of Baptism has been administered on the campus of the revered all-girls institution. The celebration stands as a direct and fruitful realization of the pastoral mandate for evangelization and faith formation issued to all school chaplains by Most Reverend Gabriel Blamo Jubwe. Under Archbishop Jubwe's guidance, chaplains have been charged with strengthening catechetical instruction within Catholic schools and actively administering the sacraments as essential channels of primary evangelization.St. Teresa Convent School, long recognized as a beacon of academic excellence and spiritual formation, is managed by the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary (FMM). The school's leadership, including Principal Sister Fatima John, FMM, Sister Evelina, FMM, and Sister Eucharista, FMM, remains deeply committed to both the academic and spiritual well-being of the students. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was celebrated by Father Johnny-Clement, the school's dedicated chaplain and a faithful diocesan priest. The entire Archdiocesan community extends its heartfelt congratulations and prayers to the twenty-one newly initiated students. Sincere gratitude is also offered to the parents, guardians, teachers, and godparents whose steadfast devotion, careful instruction, and daily witness of faith prepared and nurtured these young souls for this sacred step in their lifelong journey with Christ.Excerpts from the Homily of Father Johnny-ClementIn his warm and inspiring homily, Father Johnny-Clement shared a lighthearted story with the younger pupils to illustrate the profound reality of receiving the Holy Eucharist, reminding them that the warmth of Jesus' love is truly real and ever-present. He then offered special pastoral messages to various members of the school community:For the Newly Baptized and First Communicants: "Jesus is your lifelong battery. Today, you plug your life into God. Whenever you feel tired, scared, or lonely, pray. Draw your strength from the Sacred Heart; He will never run out of love for you."For the Parents and Godparents: "You are the guardians of this fire. Your lesson is to keep the warmth of today alive at home. Don't let this be a one-time celebration. Bring these children to Mass, pray with them, and show them how to love by your own example. You are their first map to the Heart of Jesus."For the Other Students: "Be the hands of Jesus' heart. Jesus' heart is wide open to everyone. Your lesson is kindness and inclusion. Make sure nobody at this school feels left out or unloved."For the Teachers and Staff: "Lead with a shepherd's heart. When lesson plans are stressful and days are long, rest in Jesus' heart so you don't burn out. You aren't just teaching subjects; you are molding souls."As these twenty-one young women embark upon their renewed walk with the Lord, the Archdiocese joins St. Teresa Convent School in joyfully welcoming them more deeply into the heart of the Church.Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Amen.
