Cardinal Arrigo Miglio Celebrates Ash Wednesday Mass with the Faithful of the Archdiocese of Monrovia

On Wednesday, 18th February, His Eminence Arrigo Miglio celebrated the Ash Wednesday Mass with the faithful, religious, and clergy of the Archdiocese of Monrovia. The solemn liturgical celebration took place at the Sacred Heart Cathedral on Broad Street at 5:00 p.m.Present at the celebration were the Apostolic Nuncio to Liberia, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia, His Excellency Walter Erbi, and the Archbishop of Monrovia, His Grace Gabriel Blamo Jubwe, along with priests, religious men and women, and a large gathering of the lay faithful.In his homily, Archbishop Gabriel Blamo Jubwe called on the people of the Archdiocese to embrace the true spirit of Lent through prayer, repentance, and concrete acts of charity. He particularly encouraged the faithful to live out the Church’s Social Teaching on justice and peace, reminding them that Christian conversion must be seen not only in personal holiness but also in commitment to fairness, reconciliation, and respect for human dignity in society.At the conclusion of the Mass, Cardinal Arrigo Miglio expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he received and thanked the clergy and faithful for their active participation in the sacred celebration. He urged the people to walk faithfully with Christ during the Lenten season and conveyed the Apostolic Blessing of the Holy Father to the entire Archdiocese.The celebration of Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of the Church’s annual Lenten journey of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, preparing the faithful for the joy of Easter through spiritual renewal and deeper communion with God.
